Possibly some can get Lipitor for $4, but with my Anthem Insurance, my cost through CVS is now a $51 ripoff.

This scheme is so tricked up, it boggles the mind. According to my CVS pharmacy, when the patent expired and the $4 co-pay started, Pfizer DOUBLED the price of Lipitor.

So here's the trick. They say they are giving you $50 off, but it is apparently $50 off of the new doubled price. With Anthem, my copay is now more than $51, so I and others with Anthem (and likely lots of other insurers) now have to PAY MORE than we ever paid in the past. Ironically, I can still get Crestor for $25 with their loyalty card, so you can guess what I will do!

It sure seems that Pfizer thinks consumers has no choices, are stupid, and won't be able to figure this out.  Wrong!

To add insult to injury Pfizer has apparently bought off many pharmacy chains requiring them to not sell generic Lipitor, in trade for perks or rebates they will receive - according to a lawsuit recently filed by a pharmacy which did not agree to Pfizer's terms. The source for this is Courthouse News http://www.courthousenews.com/2011/11/08/41276.htm

The lawsuit states that Pfizer is effectively trying to extend the patent of Lipitor by forcing the generics out of the market in the US - so that if you want Lipitor or generic Lipitor you will have no choice, at least in the near term

I'm no lawyer but this sure stinks to high heaven. I would be surprised if the FTC does not get involved as this sure seems as if it may be illegal, and as if it may be an unlawful restraint of free trade.

Greed is not good - no matter what the movies say.  Pigs get fat, but Hogs get slaughtered.

With all of my meds costs being so high, it is a great feeling to find a drug company that is willing to help those of us who use this med and find the cost beyond our budget.

Thank you

I would like to get the co-pay card. I have a high deductible so I would be paying $50.00 a month, unfortunately I had brain surgery a few years back and can only work one to two days a week, and can barely afford the other four medications that I need.  I have resently moved to Florida to take care of my mother who is in stage four of lung cancer and dying. The money I make in Florida isn't even  one third of what I'm use to making ,so it's very diffucult for me to pay for my medications right now. This copay card would made a world of difference to me With out it I would have to learn to live with high cholesterol.

The card is designed to pay up to $50 of your copay (or the amount of the Rx) which ever is less. If your copay is $54 or less then your copay will only be $4. If your copay/cost is greater than $54 then Pfizer will pay $50. toward your Rx.

I just tried to use the copay card in my local CVS  (Mt Pleasant SC) and they could not get it to work , so they sold me a generic for about $18 less than I normally pay for the pfizer version.  What's up ?  I have an AARP plan which pays half of $168 for one months supply.

Thank You

for us....We still have to pay $117 with BC/BS of Fl with the card,.... This month

I thiught we could finally get the new generic...but it was even more expensive than the Lipitor????  This was at Walgreens,,,We are still paying $117...

Go to the lipitor website for complete details on the card. You can get it if you're on medicaid or medicare or any government program. I'm just having trouble finding a pharmacy that participates. On the lipitor site they list an online pharmacy that accepts it. other folks have said that if phar. won't accept it, you just send original  pharmacy receipt (not cashiers receipt), copy of your $4 card which you can print out on the lipitor website or have it mailed to you and they will send you your copay minus the $4. (i assume that is if your copay is less than $54 or less. if it is more than $54/month, you only get $50 off the price of drug which won't help much.

but go to site for info. it is all very confusing and pfizer should be shot for trying to keep the generic price high by backroom deals with pharmacies and insurance companies. there is an anti-trust lawsuit against these scoundrels as there should be!
