This weekend, through Labor Day, Half Price Books will be offering an additional 20% off their already low prices! This will be a great time to pick up some books you need or some early Holiday gifts. These little sales only happen about once every three months or so this is a great time to stock up! Half Price Books is one of my favorite places to buy, trade, and sell books, although I must admit I am very partial to the Capitol Hill (Seattle, WA) store - its my favorite! The staff there is always so nice.
You know what I wonder though... how do they get the prices on the books they are buying? Does the person behind the counter just "eye ball" the book and figure out a random price? Do they have a database they look everything up in? I guess I will never know.
If you are looking for some free reading - without having to leave the house - check out the weekly free e-books that Barnes And Noble offers. This week the books include:
Kim - Kipling, Prince and the Pauer - Twain, The Jungle Book - Kipling, Arabian Nights, Fairy Tales - Anderson, Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court - Twain, Enchanted Castle and Five Children and It - Nesbit, Canterbury Tales - Chaucer, King Solomon's Mines - Haggard, Gulliver's Travels - Swift, Two Years Before the Mast - Henry, Sailing Alone Around the World - Slocum and a few others are randomly strewn across the site. I would say do a search on the B&N site for "free e-book" and you will see a few more.
Apparently most of these books are considered public domain as the copyrights are long expired but it is free entertainment with classic reads! You can even read these free e-books on your mobile device by downloading a free application - so you can take them on the go to read on the bus, lunch break, or whenever you need something to keep you occupied!
So you have a few options here and both of them are quite good - get savings on top of savings with Half Price Books with an additional 20% off all in stock items or read some free electronic books from Barnes And Noble. I think whatever you choose will end up in some great learning, reading, and entertainment! Get your read on this weekend (and the rest of the year) - and save yourself some cash!
